Top 10 Reasons Earth Is Flat(for more go to http://howpeopledo.com)

Technology has reached an advanced level and science has been able to offer us evidence that the Earth is round (or if you want a precise term – an oblate spheroid). However, even today you have people ready to believe the claims that we thought were gone during the Middle Ages. These guys are convinced that the Earth is flat, despite all the satellite images and other things that claim otherwise. Here are the top 10 reasons why to believe their theory.

#10 Satellite Images Are Fake

Satellite Images Are Fake

The flat Earth theorists don’t actually have any evidence to support their own theory, unlike their counterparts (that is, normal people). However, they are prepared not to accept all the images and other materials coming from satellites. It doesn’t matter that William Anders got the picture of the Earthrise from the Moon itself in 1968, which clearly shows that the Earth is round and moving. All those photos are not worth anything, claim the flat-Earthers, simply because they are faked.

SLU expert suggests viewing exercise as daily contribution that offers cumulative health benefits(for more go to http://howpeopledo.com)

Have you already faltered on your New Year’s resolution to exercise regularly in 2017? Joined a gym, but only worked out two days so far? New workout gear still neatly folded with tags attached? Don’t give up your admirable ambition just yet. Instead, consider a new attitude to refocus your approach toward your exercise goal.

Exercise for the sake of weight loss can be a difficult commitment, especially if you aren’t in the habit of working up a sweat. The truth is that while exercise is a great support in losing weight, it’s difficult to lose a significant amount of weight through exercise alone. You may be surprised to see that you burned fewer than 200 calories in what felt like an exhausting, energy-burning 30 minute session on the treadmill. And, if you dramatically increase your exercise time, it can be easy to up your calorie intake as you find your appetite increasing in response.

Ethel Frese, DPT, professor of physical therapy who teaches exercise physiology at Saint Louis University, suggests that instead of viewing exercise as a chore on your weight loss “to do list,” consider instead how daily exercise will contribute a long list of health benefits that will improve your quality of life.

“Rather than seeing daily exercise as a one-time herculean effort to lose x number of pounds, I like to see exercise as a daily contribution to your health that offers increasing, cumulative benefits to your quality of life,” Frese said. “It’s a great thing you can do for your day. You give yourself a mood boost, an energy boost, more oxygen flowing to the brain, your mind works better, you have a sense of accomplishment you can bring to the next thing you attempt and you have better strength and stamina.

“And, in the longer term, you take control of your risk factors for so many illnesses. While genetics plays a big role in our health, we can tip the scale in our favor with exercise.

“Finally, as an added bonus, exercise can double as social time, outdoors time, housecleaning or yard work time, play time, sports time or philanthropy time.”

The researched benefits of exercise are too numerous to list here, so we’ve gathered a few highlights to spark your motivation. Check with your healthcare provider before beginning a challenging new exercise program or if you have specific health issues, like heart disease or knee pain, to make sure that your plans are on track.

Joy of Life: One of the most striking benefits of exercise is something researchers call “joy of life.” Studies find that people who exercise typically have a more positive view of life and feel better about themselves and life in general, Frese says.

Stress Relief: “Exercise is wonderful for managing stress,” Frese says. Exercise reduces stress hormones and boosts “feel good” neurotransmitter endorphins.

Sleep: Exercise can lead to better sleep.

Cognition: Studies show that exercise supports your brain, leading to improved memory and thinking.

Dementia: Research suggests that exercise may help reduce dementia symptoms, including those from Alzheimer’s disease.

Preventing Falls: Strength and balance training can decrease the likelihood of falls for older adults. As we age, we lose fast twitch high tension muscle fibers, making it more likely that we will fall. Exercise can rebuild these fibers.

Staying Independent: Falls and frailty can lead to the end of independent living for older adults, who may need to transition to a skilled nursing facility. Exercise can help older adults maintain their independence longer.

Heart: Exercise decreases the risk for heart disease, which is still the number one killer in the U.S. And, if you have already had bypass surgery, exercise decreases your risk of having another event.

Bones: Weight-bearing exercise, like walking, weight lifting or jumping rope, is great for our bones, preventing the bone loss that leads to osteoporosis.

Muscles: Strength training is key to maintaining muscle mass, especially as we age.

Blood Pressure: Aerobic exercise helps lower blood pressure. Hypertension is one of many health issues that we have some control over and exercise is one way to manage high blood pressure.

Blood Sugar: Both aerobic and weight-bearing exercise are great for glucose control, insulin sensitivity and reducing risk of type 2 diabetes, a disease that is now regularly appearing in children as well as adults.

Cancer: Certain cancers, including colon and breast cancer respond to exercise; you are far less likely to get these cancers if you exercise on a regular basis.

Arthritis: Our joints are made to move. Exercise can help with arthritis, though it’s important to choose an exercise that doesn’t cause pain or lead to flares in joint inflammation. Elliptical machines and aquatics classes are good options to consider with your doctor.

Pain: Certain types of chronic pain can be helped through exercise. Pain from fibromyalgia, cancer treatments and fatigue can benefit from exercise. Exercise and increased strength also can prevent and delay the need for surgery for pain. A physical therapy evaluation can be helpful to understand where pain is located, what brings it on and how strength training can help.

Weight Loss: Finally, exercise really does support weight loss. The more muscle mass you have, the more metabolically active your body will be. This means you will burn more calories all the time, even when you are at rest.

A final piece of advice from Frese: If you’re ready to re-commit to daily exercise, be sure to find activities that are right for you. Exercise doesn’t have to mean time at the gym. Find something that is appropriate for your current fitness level and is something that you enjoy and will look forward to each day.

These Are the Best (and Worst) Diets of 2017, According to U.S. News(for more go to http://howpeopledo.com)

For the seventh year in a row, the DASH diet has been named the United States’ best diet overall by U.S. News & World Report in its annual rankings. The Mediterranean diet came in second (up from last year’s fourth place) and the MIND Diet—a plan that’s similar to the top two but focuses on preventing cognitive decline—took third place, down from second last year.

DASH, which stands for dietary approaches to stopping hypertension, was originally developed to help people lower their blood pressure, but its focus on low-fat, low-sodium, and plant-based meals has also been linked to a whole host of other health benefits.

There are no new surprises in this top group of diets—and in a way, that’s a surprise in itself, says David Katz, MD, director of the Yale University Prevention Research Center and one of the panelists tasked with evaluating the entries.

“With all of the competing headlines about sugar and saturated fat and this study and that study, the reality is that if you pull together a multidisciplinary group of nutrition experts, their conclusions are remarkably stable over time,” Dr. Katz told Health. “What makes diets fundamentally good, for weight control or for health, is pretty much the same as it ever was.”

Specifically, Dr. Katz stresses that a focus on wholesome foods, and a method you can stick with over time, are strong indicators that a diet is worth trying. “The ‘best’ diet, like the best exercise, is the one you actually manage to practice and maintain,” he says.

The Flexitarian diet, Mayo Clinic Diet, TLC Diet, and Weight Watchers all fared well in the best overall category, forming a four-way tie for fourth place. The rankings also includes winners for Best Weight-Loss Diet (Weight Watchers), Best Fast Weight-Loss Diet (HMR Program), Easiest Diet to Follow (Fertility Diet), Best Diet for Healthy Eating (DASH Diet), Best Plant-Based Diet (Mediterranean Diet), the best diet marketed to consumers (Mayo Clinic Diet), and the best diet for diabetes and heart disease (DASH diet).

“On the one hand, a diet that’s good for your heart is going to be good for weight loss and is also going to be good for cancer and pretty much everything else,” says Dr. Katz. “That’s the really fortunate thing. But that being said, you can still customize your diet choice based on a particular priority you have and the style you think will work best for you.”

At the other end of the spectrum, the Whole30 was the lowest ranked overall diet for the second year in a row. The trendy Dukan and Paleo diets also ranked toward the bottom of the list. These plans are too restrictive and unnecessarily wipe out entire food groups, said the expert panel, and are too difficult to follow for a long time.

The entire list of Best Diets—including a detailed profile of each diet, along with sample food diaries and recipes—was published this morning on the U.S. News website.

An estimated 45 million Americans go on diets every year, either for weight-loss or health purposes. This year, 38 different diets were considered by the U.S. News panel of nutritionists, dietary consultants, and physicians specializing in diabetes, weight loss, and heart health.

“Our Best Diet rankings provide the millions of people around the world looking to make a lifestyle change a place to jumpstart their health and fitness goals,” said Angela Haupt, Assistant Managing Editor of Health at U.S. News, in a press release. “Best Diets provides each person a chance to evaluate what diet will work best for them and their particular needs.”

4 Ridiculously Easy Diet Changes to Help Kickstart Your Weight Loss(for more go to http://howpeopledo.com)

If you want to shed some pounds, but you’re not into the idea of a complicated diet with hard-to-remember rules, you’ve come to the right place. These four simple changes will help you lose weight fast, and get you back into your favorite jeans in no time. The best part: there’s no “cleansing” required.

Make veggies the star of your meals

Time to load up on those vegetables. I’m talking at least one to two cups (a cup is the size of a tennis ball) at each meal, even breakfast. In addition to being low in calories, veggies are rich in nutrients and high in both fiber and water. By making them the main component of every meal, you’ll eat fewer calories without sacrificing nutrition, and you’ll still feel full.

For breakfast, scramble a few eggs in extra-virgin olive oil, Italian seasoning, turmeric, and black pepper, with a handful or two of chopped veggies, like spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, and bell pepper; enjoy with a side of fresh fruit. At lunch, opt for a salad rather than a sandwich or wrap. And whip up dinners comprised of “noodles” or “rice” made from veggies (spiralized, chopped, or shredded) paired with a lean source of protein (like salmon, chicken breast, or lentils) and a healthy fat (such as avocado, nuts, or seeds).

Load up on liquids

If you start your day with coffee, go ahead make it the usual way (even if that includes some sweetener). But limit yourself to just one cup. Then switch to water, or an antioxidant-rich, unsweetened tea (iced or hot); and try to have four 16-ounce servings throughout the course of the day. If you’re craving a little flavor in your water or tea, add fresh mint, basil, ginger root, or a bit of mashed berries.

However, be sure to nix any other drinks that contain sweeteners (even zero-calorie versions) or bubbles. The former may stoke a sweet tooth, or wreak havoc on your appetite, while the latter can leave you bloated. Also take note: To ensure a good night’s sleep, stop drinking any caffeinated tea at least six hours before bed. And cut off all fluids, even water, fairly early in the evening to avoid late night trips to the bathroom.

Streamline your snacks

You should really only snack under two circumstances. The first is when you’re truly, physically hungry (and not just bored or procrastinating or in the habit of nibbling at a certain time of day). The second is when you need some nourishment to tie you over between meals. For example, if you have lunch at noon and dinner isn’t till 7 p.m., a healthy snack can keep your metabolism revved, and help stabilize your blood sugar, insulin, and energy levels to prevent overeating later on.

In lieu of processed foods, like chips or sweetened bars, commit to noshing on something more nutritious. Try a golf ball-sized portion of nuts or seeds along with a tennis ball-sized serving of fruit; or a cup of raw veggies (like sliced red bell pepper and cucumber) paired with hummus or roasted chickpeas.

Make dark chocolate your sweet treat

Over the next month, try this simple experiment that’s helped many of my clients in a major way: Build what I call a “dark chocolate escape” into your day. That means enjoying a few squares of high-quality dark chocolate (with at least 70% cacao) during “you time,” without any distractions. So no laptop, no TV, and no phone.

Research shows that a small, daily dark chocolate indulgence curbs cravings for both sweet and salty foods. This trick can help you resist temptation for other goodies. Having one square after lunch and one after dinner may be a smart way to break up your treat, and keep your sweet and/or salt tooth adequately satisfied.
